Step-by-step Instructions

Step 1: Transfer 6 stitches

Insert the right-hand needle purlwise into the first stitch on the left-hand needle, then slip it off onto the right-hand needle. Repeat for all five stitches.

Step 2: Work 3rd-5th stitches on RH Needle

Insert the left-hand needle into the front of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th stitches on the right-hand needle from left to right.

Step 3: Drop stitches

Drop the five stitches off the right-hand needle.

Step 4: Pick up loose stitches

Insert the right-hand needle purlwise back into the two loose stitches to pick them up.

Step 5: Slip stitches back

Insert the left-hand needle into the two stitches on the right-hand needle from left to right and slip them back onto the left-hand needle.

Step 6: Purl two stitches

With the yarn in front. Insert the right-hand needle purlwise into the first stitch on the left-hand needle, wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the right-hand needle, and pull it through to create a new stitch. Slip the old stitch off the left-hand needle. Repeat the same process for the next stitch to complete two purl stitches.

Step 7: Knit three stitches

With the yarn in back. Insert the right-hand needle knitwise into the first stitch on the left-hand needle, wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the right-hand needle, and pull it through to create a new stitch. Slip the old stitch off the left-hand needle. Repeat the same process for the next two stitches to complete three knit stitches.
