S2SP: Left Double Decrease on WS - 7 Steps

Step-by-step Instructions

Learn a left-leaning double decrease on the wrong side by slipping two stitches together, then a third one, slipping them back, and purling through the back. Clear steps help you follow along with ease.

Step 1

Hold the yarn in front, insert the right-hand needle knitwise into the first two stitches on the left-hand needle, then slip both stitches onto the right-hand needle at once.

Step 2

Insert the right-hand needle knitwise into the next stitch on the left-hand needle, slip it onto the right-hand needle.

Step 3

Insert the left-hand needle into the front of three slipped stitches on the right-hand needle from left to right, then slip all stitches onto the left-hand needle at once.

Step 4

Insert the right-hand needle into the back of three slipped stitches on the left-hand needle from left to right.

Step 5

Wrap the yarn counter clockwise around the right-hand needle.

Step 6

Pull the yarn through three stitches.

Step 7

Drop these stitches off the left-hand needle.

NOTE

Working purl three stitches together through the back loops might be difficult due to limited visibility.

If that’s the case, after completing Step 2, try this alternative:

Alternative Step 3: Insert the LH needle into the three stitches on the RH needle from right to left, slip them back to the LH needle. Then purl the three stitches together as usual.
