Knit 2 rows in Stockinette stitch.

  • Row 9: Knit 39.
  • Row 10: Knit 3, purl 33, knit 3.
  • Row 11: Knit 39.
  • Row 12: Knit 3, purl 33, knit 3.
  • Row 13: Knit 6, dandelion, *knit 4, dandelion; rep from * to last 5 sts, knit 5.
  • Row 14: Knit 3, purl 2, (purl 2 together, purl 1) twice, purl 2 together, *purl 3, (purl 2 together, purl 1) twice, purl 2 together; rep from * to last 5 sts, purl 2, knit 3.
  • Row 15: Knit 39.
  • Row 16: Knit 3, purl 33, knit 3.
  • Row 17: Knit 39.
  • Row 18: Knit 3, purl 33, knit 3.
  • Row 19: Knit 10, *dandelion, knit 4; rep from * to last 5 sts, knit 5.
  • Row 20: Knit 3, purl 6, *(purl 2 together, purl 1) twice, purl 2 together, purl 3; rep from * to last 6 sts, purl 3, knit 3.

Repeat rows 9-20 for desired pattern length.

Then knit 2 rows in stockinette stitch, knit 6 rows in garter stitch.

How to make Dandelion 
Insert right-hand needle into the third stitch down from the second stitch on left needle (this space forms the centre of the flower) and draw through a loop, leave loop on right-hand needle and knit 2, make second loop into same stitch, knit 2, make third loop into same stitch.
