Step-by-step Instructions
Step 1
Hold the yarn in back. Insert the right-hand needle knitwise into the first two stitches on the left-hand needle, then slip both stitches onto the right-hand needle together.
Step 2
Insert the right-hand needle knitwise into the next stitch on the left-hand needle.
Step 3
Wrap the yarn counterclockwise around the right-hand needle.
Step 4
Pull the loop through the stitch.
Step 5
Keep the existing stitch on the left-hand needle. Bring the yarn between the needle tips to the front.
Step 6
With the yarn in front, reinsert the right-hand needle knitwise into the same stitch.
Step 7
Wrap the yarn counterclockwise again and pull a second loop through.
Step 8
Slip the worked stitch off the left-hand needle.
Step 9
Insert the left-hand needle into the front of the two slipped stitches on the right-hand needle.
Step 10
Pass the two stitches over the three stitches you just knitted off the right-hand needle.
Result
You now have three stitches on the right-hand needle, with the center stitch raised on top. These were all created from three stitches on the left-hand needle.
