How to make Knit 4 Below:

Drop the stitch off the needle and unravel 4 rows down. Insert the needle into the stitch on the 5th row down and under the 4 loose strands, then knit, catching the 4 loose strands behind the stitch

Pattern Instructions

Color A, cast on 131 stitches or multiple of 4 stitches, plus 11.

Garter stitch Border

Knit 8 rows of Garter stitch, all rows: Knit

Main Pattern

Color A

  • Row 1 (RS): K139.
  • Row 2: K4, P131, K4.
  • Row 3: K139.
  • Row 4: K4, P131, K4.

Color B

  • Row 5: K7, *K4B, K3; repeat from * to last 4 sts, K4.
  • Row 6: K4, P131, K4.
  • Row 7: K139.
  • Row 8: K4, P131, K4.
  • Row 9: K139.
  • Row 10: K4, P131, K4.

Color A

  • Row 11: K5, *K4B, K3; repeat from * to last 6 sts, K4B, K5.
  • Row 12: K4, P131, K4.
  • Row 13: K139.
  • Row 14: K4, P131, K4.
  • Row 15: K139.
  • Row 16: K4, P131, K4.

Repeat rows 5-16 until you reach the desired length.

Then using color A, knit 8 rows of Garter stitch border.

Finally, bind off, weave in all ends, and block as desired.
